Our goals and missions

HOUSING

HOUSING

Our City is in the midst of unequalled growth. In Lynnwood, over 3,000 apartments are currently being permitted or built. The only houses being constructed have an average sales price over $900,000. We are lacking what is called the missing middle. These are homes that are affordable to residents such as first-time buyers, teachers, retail workers or seniors looking to downsize. There are new state mandates to build this type of housing. The Council needs to make thoughtful changes to our City’s zones and codes to expand home ownership options, and that is why the Affordable Housing Council has endorsed me.

PUBLIC SAFETY

PUBLIC SAFETY

Ensuring public safety extends beyond relying solely on our Police Department. As a candidate for City Council, I have actively supported the Police Chief's proposals to secure additional funding for recruiting new officers. However, it is crucial that the Council also takes a proactive role in advocating for increased substance abuse and mental health services from the State and County. Neglecting to address the underlying causes of crime and homelessness renders emergency housing and shelters mere temporary solutions, akin to applying band-aids to a cancerous condition, and that is why the Lynnwood Police Guild has endorsed me.

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Our city has an ageing Wastewater Treatment Plant that empties into Puget Sound. The Public Works Department is constantly monitoring and making temporary repairs at that facility. A modern high-tech plant is the solution to preserving our precious and historic treasure that is our Salish Sea. There is no time to waste on moving forward on this new Treatment Plant. As part of a plan to protect our environment the City Council also needs to set policies that incentivize solar power and electric vehicles.

PARKS

PARKS

Lynnwood Parks are one of the greatest assets that we have in our City. I have championed increased funding for the maintenance and the expansion of our parks. The enjoyment of open spaces is important to the well-being of our community, and I will continue to make it a priority.
